In the 1960’s, Lawrence began to explore meditation, yoga, and psychedelics, becoming fascinated with infrared film when he realized the film could capture light frequencies that are not visible to the retina, but could be felt as heat.
Color infrared photography maps the invisible into the visible by capturing the moment a heat wave explodes into light. This gives the mind the ability to fold the analog image into a deeply immersive digital experience. With the addition of color, crystalline/diffractive & polarizing filters, the effects (with no photoshop) become radically psychedelic.
